miro Computer Products AG 03.03.97 Version 1.0 IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS =================================== I. If problems occur during the installation under Windows95 [Version950], please check to make sure that no "Unknown device" entries are listed in the Device Manager. Delete all these entries so that the device can be detected by the pnp procedure again and assigned correctly. II. Problems with DirectX-3a: The latest DirectX Version 3a, which supports MMX, is included in the miroCRYSTAL VRX package. Therefore problems may occur with different versions when installing DirectX once again (during the installation of games etc.) Answer the following dialog with "NO": Driver miroCRYSTAL VRX (...) Current Version# 4.04.00.0068 Newer Version# 4.03.00.2030 Do you want Setup to replace the drivers ? NO (select "NO" !) miroCRYSTAL VRX ================ With the miroCRYSTAL VRX board you receive a 3D graphics accelerator of the second generation. The hardware also includes an integrated RISC processor for complex 3D calculations. Four MBs one-cycle EDO RAM ensure high processing speed for 3D operations. Special 3D data can only be buffered and calculated in the memory. The miroCRYSTAL VRX board supports all current APIs, such MS DirectDraw, MS Direct3D and Speedy-3D under DOS. Furthermore, miroCRYSTAL VRX is equipped with a VESA 2.0-compatible BIOS which makes aditional TSR programs unneccessary. Games ----- a) Tombraider (Exclusive VRX Version) 1.0 Help programs ================= 1.1 VESAfix: VESAPMI.com is a TSR program which solves problems occuring with some unusual VESA modes. If you have problems with a certain game, please start "vesapmi" first. You can copy the vesapmi.com file into a directory of your choice or start it with the autoexec.bat file. 1.2 DMAtest: You should only start this programs in the MS-DOS mode. You can use the "dmatest.exe" program to determine the optimal DMA setting for your miroCRYSTAL VRX board. To install the test program on your hard disk, it is sufficient to copy the complete DMAtest directory. The program determines if the busmastering of the Vérité processor has been adjusted optimally for your system. On some motherboards busmastering has been disabled by default! If the test fails, you could have an older motherboard version. In this case, ask your reseller for a BIOS update. At last, the program determines the maximum FIFO and DMA performance. When the "Test completed succesfully" message appears, your system has been configured optimally. You may also be requested to adjust the PCI latency timer settings. Please refer to the documentation of your motherboard. 1.3 vga.drv This is a special standard Windows 95 VGA driver version. This driver is only required when your system stops working correctly during the installation. Early Intel T. chip sets can cause problems with some newer PCI graphic boards. For more information on the installation read the miroCRYSTAL VRX. 2.0 Technology demo =================== 2.1 After you installed the miroCRYSTAL VRX demo a link appears on your desktop. Start the demo from the miroCRYSTAL VRX program group (showcase demo). -Now you see a square with the miro logo. -You can move the object by pressing the left mouse button and moving the mouse. The object reacts to the speed of your movements. -Use the following keys to select the miroCRYSTAL VRX features: [G] Enables all features [B] Disables all features [L] Enables light effects in gray shades [C] Colors the light effects, press [L] then [C] [F] Enables the filter effects [E] Improves edges and transitions [S] Makes movements smoother [V] Starts a movie [R] Puts miro logo on top 3.0 Limitations: ================ 3.1 System problems: If system crashes occur which are not reproduceable, please check if emm.386 is called in your start batches. To check this enter "rem" at the beginning of this line. On some motherboards emm.386 seems to cause problems. In this case ask your reseller for a BIOS update. 3.2 Unusual VESA modes: See 1.1 3.3 Overlay and video display: For an optimal playback of AVI or MPEG files we recommend a color depth of 16 bits. If you use a miroVIDEO DC30 video digitizing board, you use a software version higher than 1.10. 3.4 True Colour mode: Although the miroCRYSTAL VRX board has 4 MB RAM, you cannot choose a True Color mode for a resolution which is higher than 1024x768. A part of the memory is reserved for the 3D Engine, therefore 1024x768x32 is the highest True Color resolution. 3.5 Slow screen refresh: See 1.2. 4.0 Games for the miroCRYSTAL VRX board: --------------------------------------------------------------------- SOFTWARE TITLE MANUFACTURER AVAILABLE --------------------------------------------------------------------- Actua Golf Gremlin FALL 97 Actua Soccer Gremlin OUT NOW Agile Warrior F-111X Virgin Interactive OUT NOW Aqua 'Tak Virgin SUMMER 97 Battle Arena Toshinden Playmates Interactive OUT NOW Cyber Gladiators Sierra On-Line OUT NOW Dark Earth Mindscape SPRING '97 Dark Vengence Reality Bytes Inc.
